This is the first in a series of blogs to introduce you to our wines. First up is the Tanzanite Brut MCC.

Tanzanite's Brut is hand crafted and produced in limited quantities - offering a truly unique and personal experience of the effort, patience, care and passion of its producer, Melanie van der Merwe.
All this effort and passion has paid off. This wine received a double gold at the 2020 SA Sparkling Championships. At an epic tasting of 93 MCC's, conducted by, amongst others, Pieter Ferreira of Graham Beck it scored 92/100, beating out most wines including the 600,000 bottle Graham Beck NV Brut(which scored a 90).
As a good Cap Classique sparkling wine is rated on the mouth, this is an extremely important part for the Tanzanite style. The wines are tasted every six months to determine the time the specific vintage must spend on the lees. Ageing on the lees is one of the crucial parts in making a good Cap Classique, with this wine being matured for a minimum of 24 months on the lees. The wine must reach its optimum maturity, which is determined by the blend and the vintage.

This Brut is an elegant fizz. It has a firm structure, good depth of flavour and a firm mousse. Great intensity with luscious fruit, flinty and nutty with soft creamy notes. It’s fresh, dry, lingering and well structured. This is a structured and elegantly matured wine. The composition of this MCC is 80% Chardonnay, 20% Pinot noir.
This wine has become one of our top-selling MCC's.
